Six Bamboo Ladders are hung with the following Panels:

  Panel 1 Oecusse District

O1) Oecusse Embroidery.
Oecussi, Male W 140 L 200. Natural and industrial dyed cotton of 3 panels: Central old embroidered with Sacred Lulik design on natural cotton; 2 outside panels red with black stripes. The remote enclave of Oecusse District rests in West Timor and was the first Portuguese settlement on the island in the 16th Century. It is isolated from the rest of East Timor making trade of textiles and other goods difficult. There are marked similarities with textiles from Indonesian West Timor.

O2) Simple Oecussi Male
Oecussi, Male W 120 L 175. Industrial dyed cotton 3 panels: central white cotton and 2 outside panels red with black and stripes.

O3) Natural Oecussi Mane
Oecussi, Male. Natural cotton washed and lightened in the sun provides the white panel. Yellow dye is derived from the turmeric root. Other colors such as green, blue, pink, red, violet, are achieved using particular plants, such as indigo, barks, leaves, berries and fruit rinds.
